Madden, The Evolution!
Hey guys did you know that the first Madden game was released all the way back in 1988 on Apple II? How crazy is that? The series may have really caught on in the early 90's on the Sega Genesis, but Madden is now one of the biggest gaming franchises of all time. We always have people asking about Madden Mobile coins for their Ultimate Team, but today we want to share some of the interesting evolutions the series made over the year and blow your minds with a little Madden trivia.
Madden 94: It actually took until Madden 94 for the game to get an official NFL license so they could use actual NFL teams.
Madden 98: This was the last game to be released for the 16 bit consoles and also the last game to use sprites.
Madden 99: In Europe the game had Garrison Hearst on the cover, the first time a player and not John Madden himself appeared on the cover of the game.
Madden 04: Madden 04 was the first game in the series to have Owner Mode which gave the player full control over a NFL franchise.
Madden 05: Bit of a controversial one this, but this was the game that started the monopoly on NFL games that EA still has to this day.
Madden 10: Featured two players on the cover (Troy Polamalu & Larry Fitzgerald) also this game had an online franchise mode.
Madden 25: Instead of calling the game Madden 14, EA called it Madden 25 to celebrate the anniversary of the game….. what the heck will they do when Madden 25 is due!
Madden 16: Madden 16 added a new mode called Draft Champions which was great for fans of fantasy football.
Madden 17: A new kicking meter was added which made kicking harder and more skill based.
Of course there is a ton more innovations, improvements and features that have been added over the years, but these are a few of the ones that we found interesting.
