Forza Horizon 4 is a beautiful looking game. It really is. It is full of amazing cars and you might want to take pictures while you are cruising. The good news is that Forza Horizon 4 has an excellent photo mode that you can use anytime, anywhere. And you can access it with the push of a button.
You can press up on the d-pad to enter Photo Mode to stop time. It takes a second or so to get things ready, but you’ll soon find yourself in photo mode, where you’re able to move the camera with both the left and right analogue sticks. The right and left triggers will also raise and lower the camera respectively.
In the time stop state, you can take a picture of whatever you were doing at the time.
This includes racing, or just cruising around. You can get really in-depth with your shot. You can add filters, adjust the shutter speed, the color, and more. It pretty much feels like you’re using a real camera. You have a ton of options in Photo Mode for Forza Horizon 4. Play around with everything and see what looks best, and then take the shot.
Additionally, in photo mode you have a range of options to make sure the photos you take are just to your liking. Pressing the left shoulder button, for instance, allows you to reset the cosmetic damage on your vehicle, while the X button allows you to change focus. Additionally, there are a range of effects you can access by pressing the Y button, such as shutter speed, exposure and contrast. Play around with them and find what works for you.
You can also take scenic shots at your owned property as well. To do that, first, you must progress far enough in the game to unlock your first house, which is given to you when you complete enough spring events to qualify for the autumn races. The map marker for your first house will be revealed once you’ve gotten to that point.
Arrive at your new house, and you’ll have a new menu that you can access while you’re there, including a garage where you can now store your cars. In the Garage menu, press X to enter Forzavista mode, which lets you look around, and set up the perfect shot. You can explode the car doors (AKA open them all up), turn on/off the lights etc. When you have an idea of what you want your shot to look like, press Y to enter Photo Mode.
As you progress, you’ll be able to use CP to buy more houses, and thus, locales, for you to take Photo Mode pictures in, to give you some more varieties in backgrounds.
When you’re ready to take your shot, you have two options. You can either press the A button to take your photo via the game, which will add a watermark in one of the corners but allow you to share it with others, or you can remove the user interface by pressing the options button on your controller and then take a screenshot using the Xbox One’s screenshot feature. Both options have their merits.
Finally, to see your Photo Mode gallery return to the main menu by pressing options. From there, in the Creative Hub section, you can go to your Photo Gallery, and see all of your Photo Mode pictures.
If you want to get more creative with your photos, drone will be your choice worth trying. Simply press the options button during gameplay and select Drone Mode on the Home tab. Unfortunately you can’t use photo mode in Drone Mode, but you can remove the user interface by pressing the options button, allowing you to take scenic pictures using the Xbox One’s screenshot feature.
