Path of Exile: Get Rich Quick with These Tips
It has been discussed many times about Path of Exile and its currency system; or lack thereof. Even though the currency system that is vastly different from any other online game out there at the moment, it still requires players to find new and innovative ways to make the most out of farming for orbs in the Path of Exile.
Getting to that point where you can afford that legendary weapon for your favourite character might take some time, but with these tips, I can assure that you will get there a whole lot quicker with them - rather than without them.
Equip your Best Equipment
This tip is fairly simple in retrospective to some of the later tips, but it's going to be one that a surprising amount of players ignore – when they really shouldn't:
Equip the very best equipment and items that you've got!
You're going to always want the best equipment on hand for whatever character you're playing. Heck, if you even manage to get a steal on an item that makes your loot drop chance that much higher, then I would recommend spending your poe currency for it; providing you think it's worth it. There's a reason the term "you've got to spend money to make money" is applicable in games such as this, and it's still true in this case.
Now, I'm not saying spend more poe currency that you're earning, but at times that small investment could mean the difference between spending only 1 hour farming/grinding and an entire day and failing to get anywhere.
Short Maps are Preferred
When you're running around, picking up gear and items to sell for a profit, you're going to want to pick maps that are quick, easy, and efficient all rolled into one. As a result of this, you're going to want to avoid any map that you wouldn't personally consider linear and while the non-linear maps may take longer, but it could prove you with some better items to sell. However, even with that knowledge, if you look at the maths of the situation you will come to realise that the amount of extra time wasted running into dead-ends, getting lost, and the like – you're ultimately going to lose out on time and currency; the one thing we're trying to avoid.
Some high-level tier maps that I would recommend keeping an eye out for to get the most out of your farming session:
Oasis
Dune
Tropical Island
Strand
Mud Geyser
Atoll
Canyon
Mesa
These aren't the only maps that you can run to vast success, but they are the ones that I do personally recommend and find myself running on a regular basis to farm for the Path of Exile currency I need.
Don't Pick Up Everything that Drops
Focus solely on picking up items that are going to sell for a considerable amount of value and nothing less; picking up low-valued items aren't worth the time or effort. Yes, you can technically fill up your inventory with pretty much everything that drops; portal back; sell all of it to the closest vendor, and then head back out onto the map – doing so, however, ultimately results in a waste of time. Focusing completely on the items that matter and are going to sell well means that you don't have to waste any of your time doing the most tedious part of farming and focus all of your time on doing the more interesting and fun part of slaughtering every mob that comes in your wake.
Speaking of every mob, this next tip is one that you're going to want to keep in mind; probably on your alt character so you don't have to completely respec accordingly on your main.
Build Accordingly – for Speed
Build your farming character to deal mass amounts of damage within a split second, so that way when you run a map each time and come across a group of mobs, you're going to be cutting them down in less than a second.
Do be aware that while you should be aiming to take down basic enemies in no longer than one second with some form of AOE, the same can't be said for bosses at the end of these maps. You're going to want to build for speed, as well as damage, but that doesn't mean you're going to amass enough damage to take down the boss without a hitch. You either focus on slaying bosses quickly or mobs and since mobs tend to be a whole heap of a lot more common than bosses are, it's best to go for speed so that at the end of the day you're going to have the currency to make all of this effort in the long run worth it.
At first you might not be the best or the quickest at farming items to sell for poe currency, but after you run a few times, get used to your build, and realise what it is that you should be keeping an eye out for, you're going to be earning some significant Path of Exile currency before you even realise!
